EP-4SDA5+ Press Release

EPoX introduces SiS648 motherboard–EP-4SDA5+, supporting 8X AGP

Aug. 28th, 2002 –SiS introduced new chipset, 648, which is the world 1st chipset that supports 8X AGP and caught a lot of attention. The SiS648 Host Interface features the AGTL & AGTL+ compliant bus driver technology with integrated on-die termination to support Intel Pentium 4 series processors with FSB 400MHz/533MHz. It also integrates a high performance memory controller supporting DDR333 up to 2.7GB/s, and SiS MuTIOL 1G Technology connecting w/ SiS963 MuTIOL 1G Media IO. The AGP interface can support external AGP slot with AGP 4X/8X capability and Fast Write Transactions.

EPoX EP-4SDA5+ is based on SiS648 northbridge and SiS963 southbridgt supporting FSB 533MHz Pentium 4 processors. It equips 6 PCI slots and one 4X AGP slot. The 3 DDR DIMM slots support PC2100 (PC2700 with DIMM1 & DIMM2) Memory modules up to 3GB. Because of the chipset innovation, 8X AGP support, EPoX positions this model in high-end market and adds many hardware features on board, same as its i850e board EP-4T4A+. It equips the wide bandwidth connectors – IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0 to support more new peripherals and maximize the transfer efficiency. The Integrate 10/100Mb fast Ethernet controller, Realtek RTL8201BL, supports LAN function by RJ-45 connector. It’s also built with HPT372 chipset for Ultra DMA-133 & IDE RAID (0, 1, 0+1) x 2 (Up to 4 Devices).

Most importantly, 4SDA5+ supports 8X AGP mode. Since the CPU host frequency is enhanced to 533MHz and the memory speed has stepped into DDR333, the bandwidth of AGP4X mode (1.0GB/sec) is definitely unsatisfying. To enhance the performance of the system and make the internal computing more balance, 8X AGP mode that provides 2.1GB/sec is the answer. 4SDA5+ is also backward compatible to 4X AGP.

EP-4SDA5+ can be adjusted the CPU Vcore and clock by BIOS with the maximum range, same as the voltage of AGP and memory. Besides, to protect the system from any damage caused by overclocking, Magic Health, EPoX’s exclusive innovation is also standby. Users can monitor the system status while boot-up the system. The useful on board debug device – Post port also helps users to correct the installation error by the codes showed on the 2 LED.

EP-4SDA5+ is under delivery and will be available soon in the channel.

Magic Flash is here

The Ultimate EPoX Soft Utility “Magic Flash “is Online Now!

Jul. 30th, 2002, Taipei, Taiwan (R.O.C.) –
Introducing “Magic Flash“ On-line

Striving to make computer maintenance easier for the user, EPoX has created the newest motherboard feature dubbed “Magic Flash.” This new feature will help a user update a mainboard’s BIOS automatically in a windows operating system, as opposed to an antiquated DOS flash process. The latest Magic Flash version provides many new features and supercedes other available BIOS update software utilities. EPoX will provide this exciting new software enhancement in the upcoming 8K5A mainboard family.

Provides More Functions, More Personalized Features

One can see many new and improved features in Magic Health. First and foremost, the computer does not require a reboot to update the BIOS in the DOS using some primitive AwardFlash utility. Now, all one has to do is start the Magic Flash utility in Windows with the click of a button, and it will display the current BIOS version. The simple search feature will tell the user whether the BIOS is outdated or not. And finally, if there is a newer BIOS out, Magic Health can download directly from EPoX without the user having to search through countless web pages. Upon completion of the effortless download, the Magic Health will automatically flash the BIOS. This remarkable utility also includes a save option for saving the BIOS to a hard drive; and a reserve option to re-flash the BIOS to the former version. The best thing about Magic Health is that it will eliminate any future incidents of incorrect BIOS flashes. Magic Health was designed to make EPoX motherboard upkeep more safe and trouble-free.

Extravagant Interface with Customizable Skin

EPoX promotes aesthetic value by allowing Magic Health users to customize the utility skin to their preference. Choose from a library of the cool-looking skins from the EPoX website to match your desktop theme. This outstanding new software utility is available right now. Don’t hesitate to get yours today from EPoX or with EPoX’s latest products.
